Their latest product, the Waterfall Headboard Unit with integrated side tables,
is a refreshing sight set to bring balance, beauty and function to contemporary bedrooms.
A Brief History of the Headboardd
Headboards can be traced back to Ancient Greek and Roman times. Those days, they were cleverly attached to the heads of beds to shield sleepers from unwelcome drafts entering inadequately insulated structures. Rather than using brick or stone, these furniture pieces with their practical purpose were fashioned from wood due to the material’s relatively low thermal conductivity.
Earlier still, spectacular headboards constructed from ebony or gold were ornate luxuries relished by Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt.
Headboards Now
The headboard has since evolved from its very humble (and not so humble) beginnings.
Today, thanks to modern heating and insulation solutions, headboards featured in homes and accommodations have assumed mostly aesthetic and utilitarian roles and are available in many materials, styles, shapes, colours and textures.
A Level-headed Design
This Waterfall Headboard Unit was originally designed for an upmarket residential space. The piece perfectly complemented the open-plan bedroom characterised by earthy and natural tones.
Ultimately the design process was steered by a desire to produce a product with integrity that would be admired for its elegant simplicity and the details of the quality finish.
Creation
The piece is hand-crafted by experienced joiners.
At the base, the unit consists of exceptional MDF (medium-density fibreboard) which is stronger and denser than chipboard. Next, a veneer of exotic timber is laminated onto the base board. A solid edge, laminated with matching exotic timber, completes the piece.
The unit is currently available in three natural finishes namely Oak, Walnut and Ash.

Today the Waterfall Headboard Unit with integrated side tables is also an independent AB Design product bound to become a popular staple which they take pleasure in producing and showcasing.
For ease of production, transporting and installation, the unit splits in the centre. The unit also requires no further maintenance apart from standard cleaning.
Functions
Due to its clean lines and natural colours, the Waterfall Headboard Unit is able to effortlessly complement most bedrooms and beds. It manages to add subtle sophistication and offers modest yet adequate storage space while completing the bedroom setting in a confident yet humble manner.
The minimal storage space provided by the integrated side tables also encourages users to mindfully declutter an area meant for rest and relaxation.
